I look forward to your column every week. It commands our attention and is written with seriousness and enough humour to keep us coming back for more. I only hope that those who really need this are reading it also. It's scary how many bad drivers there are on our roads. Being a senior now, one of the proud Babyboomers, I take everything more seriously including my driving habits. I confess to being very fortunate after a few bad driving choices in the past. The good news is that I realize those errors now and will not repeat them. I'm just happy to still be here so am not going to mess around with fate. Keep up the good work and thank you for all your efforts.

Throw in a shoot/don't shoot decision when he disobeys commands and you have a very stressful day. Trouble is, our "clients" seldom think about this before they "perform" for you and might not realize how close they have come to ruining at least two lives.

Great job Sandra, hopefully his ego along with his anger was deflated. also, while I agree it is better for him to try and take his anger out on you rather than the attendent, it still sucks for you to have to deal with these idiots.

How true, 9920 - there is no such thing as a 'routine' traffic stop.

Good job Sandra! Another thing about traffic stops that bug me is when the media refer to them as "Routine." Stay safe out there!

Dear Sandra,
I think two dogs beat one dog is also a threat--and great answer.

I think Mr. Anger Issues got his reality check. Probably did not go home and beat on anyone or even kick the dogs.

Like others, I could see it perfectly. Great post!

Umm, did you ever get any coffee?

I hope so,
Ann T.

Sandy,

Great blog post. It made me feel like I was riding in the vehicle with you. I could totally picture the whole event going down. It is a pleasure to read your stories, you are truly a great writer. I would love to see how you write a report.

Wow! You handled that one really well. I try to put myself in your shoes and I'm not sure if I could have been quite so calm about it. Good job at dissipating the conflict.
