In a Nut Shell

We’ve returned from our trip and in a nutshell, here it is:

  • We travelled to Ireland, had a wonderful time and discovered that two weeks is not nearly long enough to fully discover the beautiful country – more to follow
  • Policing in Northern Ireland is much different than it is here – more to follow on that as well
  • Driving in Ireland is, well, interesting. Actually, I loved it – everyone can drive and be courteous at the same time.
  • Hondo is much improved, thanks to my wonderful friend who cared for him while we were away
  • I’ve no more time to write much else as our return flight, originally slated to be a flight totalling 13 hours, turned into a Trans-Atlantic journey spanning 36 hours, four airports and just as many planes. Compliments of an airline strike.  At least we were upgraded to business class for the long haul. 

I hope all has been well here, and I should be returning to regular posting within a few days.

    Oh, I have family in Ireland, not that I ever met them. But How Grand a place to go!

    Glad you had a good time. Glad you’re safely home. Glad that PS Hondo’s on the mend.

    Get over the jet lag, it sounds like the worst! There is no paperback novel that will obliberate a 36 hour trip . . .

    Sandra, I’m so glad the hound is healing well, I’m confident that he will be back out on the road putting the bite on bad guys very soon.

    Not many coppers on this side of the pond can concieve of what policing in Northern Ireland is like. And as bad as it is now, it was far, far more dangerous pre-1999. I’m glad you had a chance to see the working conditions over there and I’m interested in reading about your experiences on the blog.

    Welcome home… albeit it with somewhat selfish wishes on my part because I was missing my blog dose whilst I am still off work.

    Let me guess…. you flew with B.A? Still, I’ve always had better experiences with them even when they’ve not been on the ball flying to & from Ol’ Blighty than with the home-grown airline. ;) And my travel blog is grateful to sucky flights & lay overs – they’re some of my funnier posts. haha
