Thank you for your wonderful blog, Sandra! And thank you also for your courageous work. I have much respect for the VPD.

It's true that dogs and humans have a lot in common biologically. Have you heard of DogHeirs? It's a site working on diseases that affect dogs, but I just read a post by their team about a canine disease that's just like ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. Every dog that enters health records on DogHeirs contributes 'data' to furthering canine disease research, so this might be something worth looking into, as what happens with Hondo could help other dog lovers who have dogs diagnosed with IMHA. Check it out at http://www.DogHeirs.com, if you'd like.

Warm wishes to you, your family and Hondo. Hope he has a very speedy recovery.

What ENCOURAGING news about Hondo. All of you must feel some relief that he's now at home.

We hope & pray he'll recover and will be back at work with you.

I'm so happy to hear that Hondo is doing better. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have my pet and PARTNER be sick like that. Best of all to both of you guys. Stay strong!

I'm very glad to hear that Hondo is on the road to recovery, I'm sure he'll be well tended while his body works to repair itself.

My cousin had the same condition, though the underlying cause was cancer, but that was 20 years ago and she's al clear.

I find it interesting how we humans and animals are not all that different on many levels, at least from a biological point of view. The disease you described sounds like the exact same problems some humans get, and what I'm learning about in medical school. I hope Hondo makes a speedy recovery and he is able to get back to doing what he loves the most.
