Meadowlark - I think my hubby suffers from the same 'situational awareness' at times too!

Slamdunk and Rose - both of you picked up on it, and even though I said civilians could be forgiven for operating in the 'white', it's usually a good idea not to. I just didn't want to be a naysayer and frighten anyone into thinking our streets have become a battle field (even though some days I wonder...)

And again a big "good Job!" to the individual officers mentioned here. Though I have to add, we in the public can less and less afford to live in the "white" ourselves. It's getting rougher out there everyday, and our police are so over-taxed that we need to look after ourselves a bit more, when we're able.

I think the Code White concept also relates well to your previous posts on becoming a good witness. It is a skill that non-officers can hone to become more aware of their surroundings--potentially avoiding dangerous situations.

Conversely, there's my guy who might be able to recognize the guy he was looking for in a two month old burg, yet doesn't recognize my own MOTHER when she passes him on the road and waves.

Talk about "situational awareness". ;)

(I'm sure if my mother were a CRIMINAL, he'd be fine!)
